After the Longest Day Honouring the Summer Solstice through awareness, reflection and everyday presence

In last week’s reflection (Preparing for the Summer Solstice - What becomes visible when we pause long enough to notice?), we explored the invitation to pause long enough to notice what has become visible as we approach the longest day of the year.

Over the years, I have often searched for ways to honour the Summer Solstice. More often than not, I found myself encountering practices centred around achievement, endurance, or spiritual performance.

The most common was completing 108 Sun Salutations, a powerful and meaningful tradition for many people, yet one that never felt like a natural fit for me. Partly because it is a physically demanding practice, and partly because I noticed something else arising within myself. Rather than feeling inspired, I often found myself feeling as though I should be doing more. As though a meaningful connection to the solstice required effort, accomplishment, or proving something.

Over time, I came to question that assumption.

What if awareness does not require performance?

What if the invitation of the solstice is not to do more?

What if it is an invitation to notice more?

This guide was created from that question.

The 21 days following the Summer Solstice offer an opportunity to continue exploring awareness in simple and accessible ways. Not through grand rituals or demanding practices, instead through small acts of noticing woven into everyday life.

The guide is not intended to become another task to complete or another item on a to-do list. Instead, it is offered as a gentle companion for reflection, journaling, and awareness during the weeks that follow the solstice.

Included within the guide:

• Three weeks of themed reflections

• Daily noticing invitations

• Journaling prompts

• Space for personal observations and insight.

Perhaps this guide will serve as a gentle reminder that many of life’s deeper insights are revealed through paying closer attention to ordinary moments.
